New Denver Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn said he expects to start for the team, a proclamation that certainly surprised a lot of people.
Kyle Orton is the current starting quarterback out in Denver, and while not exactly Peyton Manning, he did a decent job for the Broncos in his first season with the team.
Maybe Quinn believes he will get a chance to compete for the starting job, or that he is going to be groomed as the successor to Orton in another couple of years.
The Broncos haven’t said a word about Quinn’s statement other than to say that they are always looking to bring in players who can help the team win football games.
Quinn also said that the severely sprained foot that cut his 2009 season short is no longer an issue and he is 100 percent healthy for 2010.

The Denver Broncos have cut backup quarterback Chris Simms after trading for Brady Quinn.
The Broncos were hopeful that Simms could make a comeback after having his spleen removed a few years ago.
However, Simms played very poorly while replacing the injured Kyle Orton during a couple of games last season.
Simms has shown flashes of promise in the past, so another team will probably be interested in him.
He probably needs some significant playing time to get into a rhythm and show what he can really do.

The Denver Broncos have acquired quarterback Brady Quinn from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for running back Peyton Hillis, a 2010 sixth-round pick and a 2011 conditional draft pick.
It’s an interesting move from the Broncos, who gave up an awful lot for a quarterback who has done nothing in the NFL.
Maybe head coach Josh McDaniels feels that Quinn could really benefit from his tutelgate the same way Matt Cassel did.
Quinn is certainly still young enough to be given another chance at a starting job in the league.
For now, he is likely to sit behind Kyle Orton as the backup quarterback and add some competition to the mix.

Of their 16 games in 2010, the Denver Broncos can safely say they will be going on one really, really long road trip.
It will be next month before dates and times for the Broncos’ 2010 schedule are announced by the National Football League. But Denver will take on the San Francisco 49ers in a treat of a Halloween matchup in London.
That trip across the pond highlights a schedule during which the Broncos will face six playoff teams from a year ago.
The Broncos will face Western Division rivals Kansas City, Oakland and San Diego on the road. Also on the road slate will be games at playoff qualifiers Arizona and Baltimore, and contests at Jacksonville and Tennessee, as well as the trip to London for the game with San Francisco.
Highlighting the home schedule is a showdown with AFC champion Indianapolis. Two playoff teams from last year, the New York Jets and San Diego Chargers, also will come to Denver. The rest of the home schedule includes games against Kansas City, Oakland, Houston, St. Louis and Seattle.
Denver’s schedule ranks 24th in the NFL, based on opponents’ win percentage from last season.

The Denver Broncos have signed free agent defensive end Jarvis Green to a four-year contract worth $20 million.
The former New England Patriot beat out Baltimore Ravens defensive end Dwan Edwards for the contract.
Green spent the past eight seasons with the Patriots, mostly coming on the field in passing downs.
The Broncos have been working hard this offseason to rebuild their depleted defensive line, and Green is the latest piece.
Meanwhile, the Patriots will now have a major hole at defensive end that will need to be filled.
